ALPHA BARREL OAK, PARING KNIFE

ALPHA BARREL OAK, PARING KNIFE

In collaboration with star chef Harald Rüssel, whose gourmet restaurant and hotel Landhaus St. Urban is located in a side valley of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine-growing region, Güde has created this series – not only – for wine lovers and cooking enthusiasts. The handles are made from the oak wood of over 80-year-old wine barrels. Oak is a very hard wood. Due to its long maturation, the wood has become almost indestructible – ideal for making knife handles out of it.

Like all the knives in the Alpha series, the blade of the Alpha barrel oak series is hand-forged from one piece of chrome-vanadium-molybdenum knife steel. More than 40 further manual operations are necessary to produce a unique piece of Solingen knifemaking art. Due to the wooden handles, these knives should not be put in the dishwasher. The blade is stainless, ice-hardened and of course hand-sharpened.
